If you are an American tax paying citizen who has never been married, you may be eligible for the Federal Child Care Subsidies, otherwise known as the FAFSA, and be able to receive this financial assistance to pay for the cost of child care. There are many ways to apply for these subsidies.

Different Child Care Subsidy Programs

Child Care

First, it is important to understand that there are two types of programs that will be available to American families: (a) the Medicaid program, (b) the Children’s Special Health Care Services program. Both of these programs will provide money for medical expenses, but the Medicaid program provides significantly less money per day care service dollar value than the children’s Special Health Care Services program. To be eligible for one of these programs, you must have a household income that falls below a certain income level.

For instance, an individual with an annual income of around $20,000 would be considered a low-income family in order to be eligible for either the Medicaid program or the children’s special health care plan. Also, a family who has more than one dependent, an unemployed worker or a person who receives a Government subsidized loan would also be considered a low-income family for the purposes of applying for the federal child care subsidies.

If you are an American tax paying citizen who lives in one of the above mentioned income brackets and would like to be involved in either one of these programs, you are welcome to do so! The first step in applying is to fill out the FAFSA. Incomplete forms can lead to disqualification. Once your application is approved, you will receive an EFC, which takes into account both the income and assets you may have. The final step in the application process is to choose a family plan from one of two selections. You must select the Early Learning Programs program or the Child Care Subsidies.

Primary Goal Of The Early Learning Program

Child Care

The primary goal of the early learning program is to support parents in helping their children develop proper skills before they enter kindergarten. To achieve this goal, there are several requirements. Parents must have completed high school, possess a GED and have obtained an acceptable job training program. Once you meet these basic requirements, you will be eligible for the child care subsidy program.

Some of the other requirements associated with the child care subsidy program eligibility requirements are residence outside of the U.S., non-paternity, no dependents and SSN/EIN numbers. It should be noted that if you fall within one of these categories, the cost of receiving the child care programs is partially or completely subsidized by the government. In addition, some states have additional requirements that must be met in order to be eligible for the early learning subsidies. Some states require proof that the families live at home and that each family member has his or her own Social Security number. While these additional requirements may on occasion increase your overall costs, they are required so that the state can offer assistance to families that need it.

The Children’s Hospital Association

For many families, there are some elements of the cost of caring for a child that cannot be met through any federal or state assistance. If you fall into one of these groups and you would like to be considered for the child care subsidy program, you may want to review your situation and see what can be done to better your finances. Your first step should be to discuss your family’s situation with your spouse and then with your child. Ask them about how the finances currently work and whether there are ways that you could change that to reduce the burden on both parents. Do not hesitate to speak out if there are areas where the two of you feel your current spending habits do not serve your family’s needs. You might find that your child care costs are too high and that you could qualify for more assistance.

Many families will turn to organizations like The Children’s Hospital Association (CCHA) for help with their child care services. The CCHAs work closely with a variety of hospitals to provide a wide range of programs and services to families. One important aspect of the Early Head Start program is that the children take part in medical and dental care through local clinics. Because children often get into fights or fall ill during their young growing years, this is one aspect that the CCHA works to prevent.

Final Thoughts

The Medicaid program is another popular choice for families looking to reduce their child care subsidies. If you fall within the Medicaid program, you may be able to qualify for health care insurance benefits that will cover your child care. You will also want to check with your local Medicaid office for additional information. If you belong to a group that is supported by a special interest group, or union, you may be able to get a special rate on your subsidies. Regardless of which type of federal government child care subsidy program you use, it is important to remember that you are not alone.
