Another career option for those considering the child care worker career path is Special Education. Special education positions are required in all areas of the U.S. The primary function of these professionals is to provide individualized instruction to children with disabilities. This education can be provided in public schools, private schools, and other institutions of higher education. Positions may include interpreting for a deaf or hard-of-hearing child, teaching physical education and physical therapy, providing education and counseling in subjects such as science, math, and reading, and assisting teachers with student behavior management techniques.

Types Of Medical Careers

Medical Careers is a career that often involves a position as a medical staff. One type of medical career involves being a licensed nurse and working directly with patients. A variety of special responsibilities is required in this area of work. These workers assist doctors in providing healthcare by taking vital signs of a patient such as blood pressure and pulse rate. Other types of duties may include performing CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) for children who are choking, administering medicine to infants and toddlers who are allergic to certain medicines, and monitoring a patient’s heart rate.

One can also choose to be a full-time care provider, or a part-time caregiver. Part-time caregivers are those who work under the supervision of an adult who is responsible for supervising day-to-day activities of the child care worker. Full-time caregivers are those who are employed by a child care agency. The requirements of being a full-time or part-time caregiver vary by state. Some states have laws that require licensed child care workers to be 18 years old or older; while others only require that they be eighteen years of age or older and have a high school diploma.

Types Of Care Agencies

There are many different types of agencies that provide care for children and are generally classified as day care centers, private agencies, government facilities, and educational services. Day care centers are generally smaller agencies that operate solely for the children or infants that they serve. Private agencies operate for profit and employ licensed childcare providers to provide services to their clients. Government facilities are generally large, state operated, or facilities that serve a community. Educational services are generally offered by public schools, pre-k education, and other community colleges.

Child care workers have many different job options available to them. Choosing the right career path will depend on what kind of care you would like to provide and how much time you want to spend working. If you prefer to spend your time off and relax then you may wish to become a nanny or assistance to an in home caregiver. If you are interested in becoming involved in a more structured child care setting then becoming a licensed child care worker is a great option.
